Last month we announced that we would have the full results of a comprehensive ‘field test study’ on the effects of Naturally Juic’d. This was an informal, ‘real world’ research project involving a wide range of participants that included high level competitive athletes and casual ‘weekend’ fitness enthusiasts.
The study lasted eight weeks and involved twelve subjects ranging in ages from sixteen to sixty-seven. Ten were male, two female. Ten out of the twelve participants had extensive weight training experience, four having competed successfully in bodybuilding contests (which fact would, in theory, tend to mitigate any response to a supplement). One participant was active in competitive sports, one had limited training experience and one was basically sedentary, having only recently started a mild exercise program consisting primarily of walking.
The protocol was as follows: participants took one scoop of Naturally Juic’d post workout (a couple of subjects chose to take the drink at another time during the day). Subjects mixed Naturally Juic’d with low fat milk, juice or water according to individual preference. Though the basic vanilla flavor with a light touch of cinnamon was considered ‘awesome’ in the words of one test subject, some chose to add fresh strawberries or a banana. One person came up with the idea of fruit juice for a base with the addition of a mango; he called it his “high octane fruit smoothie”.
Subjects rated product on several criteria: Taste/Palatability.
Adverse reactions such as digestive problems, gas, diarrhea, upset stomach.
Subjective measurements: feeling of well being, increase or decrease in energy, increase or decrease in fatigue levels, increase or decrease training intensity, effect – if any – on joint and/or muscle pain, increase or decrease in recovery ability.
Objection measurements: weight gain or loss, body composition, strength levels, performance increase or decrease.
Here are the results as reported at the end of the eight week study:
Taste/Palatability: 12 out of 12 rated the taste as anywhere from good to exceptionally good (as noted previously, one individual used the term ‘awesome’).
Adverse reactions: None of the 12 reported any adverse reactions. Three of the males and one female noted that other products had caused digestive problems and/or gas and were pleasantly surprised that this did not occur with Naturally Juic’d.
Subjective measurements: All12 test subjects indicated increased feeling of well being and decreased fatigue levels. 11 out of 12 indicated an increase in recovery ability, but in all fairness we must point out one ‘positive’ report was from the formerly mostly sedentary person. 10 out of 12 indicated improved training intensity or exercise performance. 8 out of 12 reported some decrease in joint pain or muscle pain, with 4 out of the 8 indicating a high degree of pain relief. One subject reported that a long standing problem with pain in his knees had completely disappeared by the end of the sixth week.
Objective measurements: 3 of the participants, two males and one female, reported weight loss, which was one of their respective goals. One male lost slightly over 15 pounds (it should be noted that this was part of his stated ‘game plan’ and he altered his dietary regimen and increased training intensity to help accomplish this goal), the other male lost 11 pounds (which in his case was a ‘happy’ side effect precipitated by increased training volume and intensity), and the female lost 7.5 (as she said, ‘definitely’ one of her main goals was to lose body fat).
10 of the 12 reported positive alteration of their lean mass to body fat ratios – i.e. they gained lean mass and lost body fat (2 of the participants did not maintain proper data and so the results were not included in the overall summary even though the reported results were positive).
8 out of 12 reported documented increases in strength (via training journals) but in all fairness we want to note that one was the individual whose knee pains completely ‘disappeared’ and so the marked increase in poundages on his thigh and hamstring exercises was likely in large part due to the ability to ‘push’ himself due to the lack of discomfort.
The female who was engaged in a light exercise program involving primarily walking did not undergo any initial strength testing; the male who lost 11 pounds reported an increasing his exercise poundage in leg movements but staying the same or even decreasing in some upper body movements, which he attributed to a loss in bodyweight; and 2 other subjects reported increases in endurance but did not record any marked increases in strength.
The most impressive overall results were obtained by a male in his 50’s and a male in his mid 20’s. The younger man gained 12 pounds overall, decreased his body fat - adjusted for the decrease in body fat, translated out to approximately 14 pounds of lean mass! – while increasing strength and performance levels.
While the field test study referenced above was in progress, we double checked various lists and standards tables and are pleased to report that Naturally Juic’d passes the banned substance test/list for the NCAA, the IOC, and the NFL, plus it has been declared safe for use in women not pregnant or lactating and safe for high school age users (though we advise for use in teens 16 and older). For those of you who missed the announcement, when we broke the news that Natural Champion Enterprises had enlisted the help of Lazarus Labs, a non-prescription pharmaceutical company and a subsidiary of the Benito Enterprises conglomerate to help come up with a solution for all those drug free athletes and fitness enthusiasts who were looking for something to help level the playing field and provide a legal boost in physical performance without suffering any negative side, we stated that the final product had to meet several criteria, including:
*It had to be safe…No danger of ingesting harmful substances…No danger of failing any drug tests.
*It had to be effective…Simply put, it had to Work!
*It had to be economical…An all-in-one formula that not only took the guess work out of shopping for supplements but that could be obtained for a fraction of the cost of the primary ingredients if bought separately.
*It had to taste good….Really good.
*It had to be the best product out there.
Based on this initial field test study, and unsolicited testimonials coming in from various parts of the country, the criteria have not only been met – they’ve been exceeded!
